Consuming the Other

2016 - Cactus Bar

Context

A love relationship is a continuous exchange of energies that can be, amongst others, overwhelming or healing, dominating or supportive. It happens that someone forgets to respect boundaries and see themselves as "Being consumed by the other" as they forget themselves in this relationship. By giving everything or taking the other all in oneself, the identity seems to disappear.

Consuming the Other uses food exchanges as a metaphor for gluttonery and selfishness.

Description

Rolling in from the cold streets a carpet of love up to the stairs and up to the stage, two strange-looking protagonists surprise the public by their unexpected entrance. They sit on a vaporous stage and take out various food items from one another's clothing. The tempo changes often, there is a lot of tension in between the two.

The end of the performance has been forgotten.
