July 8th: Hold Your Drink: Hands and Glasses Photography Project

Eat Art Marathon

Inspiration

Alcohol consumption is also an act of ingestion of edibles. While browsing through the food and sociology sections in Concordia Library, I found a book on the alcohol topic, historically and socially explained. It was refreshing to read some information on alcohol that was more than adressing its dangers, giving cocktails recipes or sharing the experience of being drunk. Alcohol is a social cement and the mere gesture of holding one beverage can reveal a lot on one's personality, current emotions, social situation, and degree of drunkenness, while leaving in the abstract the other usual topics.

Description

I went to various spaces where alcohol or the subsequent beverages where consumed during one night on Ste-Catherine East street. Underground electro party, homelessness in the street, 24-hour fast food restaurant, coffee shops, the gay village pedestrian street, ... Helped by my photo assistant Gül, we convinced the most reticents to participate to this unusual photo project.
